Landon Slaggert wishes the Chicago Blackhawks’ season wasn’t coming to an end, but he’s already looking ahead to an important offseason. The 21-year-old forward, who made his NHL debut late in the season, has enjoyed every moment in a Blackhawks sweater and is eager to build on the experience.
Slaggert, a South Bend, Indiana native, signed his entry-level contract with Chicago in March after finishing his college career at Notre Dame. He wasted no time making an impression, bringing energy and tenacity to the Blackhawks’ lineup. Though the team struggled overall, Slaggert relished the opportunity to get his first taste of NHL action and is hungry for more.
“I wish we had more games left to play,” Slaggert admitted. “It’s been incredible being part of this group, and I just want to keep improving.”
His focus now shifts to a crucial summer of development. He plans to work on his strength, skating, and offensive game to ensure he’s ready to compete for a roster spot in the fall.
“The work never stops,” he said. “This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead.”
Slaggert’s enthusiasm and work ethic make him a player to watch as Chicago continues its rebuild.
