Penn State star Abdul Carter might go No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL draft. But if he doesn’t, there are a host of teams that will be champing at the bit to take him.
Carter is scheduled to meet with members of the New York Giants’ organization on Friday after Penn State’s pro day, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.
The news comes after a Friday morning report revealed that Carter had dinner with Cleveland Browns officials on Thursday night in State College. That contingent included owner Jimmy Haslem, executive vice president J.W. Johnson and general manager Andrew Berry.
That was at least the second significant meeting between Carter and Browns’ brass. Earlier this month, Carter visited Cleveland’s facility and met with multiple team officials.
The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Browns own the No. 2 pick while the Giants are selecting No. 3 overall.
Carter was present at Penn State’s pro day on Friday with his family and agent Drew Rosenhaus. But the All-American edge rusher did not work out as he continues to rehab from the shoulder injury he suffered against Boise State in the College Football Playoff.
Meeting with New York and Cleveland brass doesn’t necessarily mean Carter will definitely land in the top three. The Titans, Browns and Giants all need a franchise quarterback.
But if Carter — recognized by many as the top prospect in this year’s draft — makes it past the first pick, it seems likely he will land with either the Browns or the Giants.
We’ll find out Carter’s NFL destination on the opening night of the draft on April 24.
