Missouri Tigers’ Star Forward Mark Mitchell Jr. Transfers from Duke, Shines in First Season

Mark Mitchell Jr., a 6-foot-9 forward from Kansas City, Kansas, made a splash in his first season with the Missouri Tigers after transferring from the Duke Blue Devils. Mitchell had spent two seasons in Durham, where he showcased flashes of brilliance but struggled to earn consistent playing time in a star-studded roster. Seeking a fresh start, Mitchell made the decision to move closer to home and join Missouri, where he quickly became one of the team’s most impactful players.

In his inaugural season with Mizzou, Mitchell proved to be a key asset on both ends of the floor. He led the Tigers in scoring with an average of 14.3 points per game and was also a versatile threat, contributing 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. His scoring was highlighted by a career-high 31-point performance against then-No. 4 Alabama, where he hit clutch shots down the stretch to help secure a critical win for Mizzou.

Mitchell’s ability to stretch the floor with his shooting and use his athleticism to attack the rim made him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. His strong season earned him Third-Team All-SEC honors, and scouts are already taking notice of his potential at the professional level. Fans are excited to see what Mitchell can do in his second season with the Tigers as they aim for further success in the SEC.
