Baton Rouge, LA – In a bold move to enhance LSU’s athletic program, Head Coach Brian Kelly and his wife, Paqui, have pledged to match up to $1 million in contributions to the university’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collective. This initiative aims to bolster NIL opportunities for LSU student-athletes across all sports.
Details of the Donation
The “Kelly Family Million Dollar Match Challenge” was launched on December 13, 2024, and will run through February 5, 2025. During this period, all donations made to LSU’s NIL collective, Bayou Traditions, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Kellys, up to a total of $1 million. The funds will be directed to the Tiger Athletic Foundation’s AD’s Excellence Fund, supporting scholarships and facility enhancements for student-athletes.
Impact on LSU Athletics
This matching program is designed to strengthen LSU’s position in the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics, ensuring the university remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent. The initiative underscores the Kelly family’s commitment to investing in the future of LSU Athletics and supporting the holistic development of its student-athletes.
A Tradition of Support
This is the second significant financial contribution from the Kelly family, following a $1 million donation in 2022 to support the construction of new facilities for the football program. Both investments are the largest from a sitting head coach in university history, highlighting the Kellys’ dedication to enhancing LSU’s athletic excellence.
