Arkansas State football falls to Old Dominion in regular season finale
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The Monarchs spoiled Senior Day at The Vault.
Quinn Henicle accounted for 4 touchdowns on Saturday afternoon as Old Dominion beat Arkansas State 40-32. The freshman quarterback rushed for 206 yards and 2 scores and passed for 143 yards and 2 scores.
The Monarchs jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after two Red Wolves turnovers. A-State got on the board after a 36 yard touchdown from Jaylen Raynor to Corey Rucker. Rucker set the program record for career receiving yards (3,045), the Mississippi native had 8 receptions for 115 yards. Raynor threw for 261 and 3 scores, Courtney Jackson and Manny Stevenson found the end zone.
A-State cut the deficit to 40-32 after a Clune Van Andel 26 yard field goal in the 4th quarter. But ODU held the ball for the final 6:03 to secure the victory.
The Red Wolves finish the regular season 7-5 overall, 5-3 in Sun Belt play. They’re one of 8 bowl eligible teams in the Sun Belt.
