Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman weighs in on Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava’s transfer
- Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman commented on Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s transfer.
- If you haven’t hear, Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava opted to transfer before the end of spring camp, and as a guest on JD Pickell’s podcast “Hard Count,” Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman gave his two cents on the situation.
-
He started off by saying that most of those conversations are behind the scenes, but this one clearly became public. Freeman said that due to the compensation that the players are making, he doesn’t want them “to make a temporary decision based off a temporary situation that’s going to affect the long term.”
Freeman went on to say that every situation is different, every program handles Name, Image, and Likeness differently, but he said “that at the end of the day you want to do what’s right for college football.. what’s right for our players.”
-
It’s hard to disagree with Freeman’s opinion on how this was handled, as he tries to make sure each of these conversations with players are private, not to “tarnish whats so good about our profession, our sport.”
You can watch the full clip of Freeman’s thoughts below. What do you think, is he right about how Notre Dame handles transfer decisions?
