Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart Exposed Badly in Ugly Loss — Is Lane Kiffin Betting on the Wrong QB?

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a brutal reality check in his latest outing, and Lane Kiffin’s once-bold gamble on him is starting to look like a major mistake. Dart was supposed to take the next step into stardom this season, leading a high-flying Rebels offense that could terrorize the SEC. Instead, Dart appeared rattled, hesitant, and completely out of sync. He missed on deep balls that should have been easy touchdowns, misread defenses with alarming frequency, and looked utterly helpless once the pocket started collapsing. Even worse, Dart’s body language turned visibly negative by the second quarter, a troubling sign for a team that feeds off swagger and momentum. Kiffin tried everything—tempo changes, rollouts, quick hits—but Dart never found his rhythm. Instead, the Rebels’ offense sputtered and died at the worst possible times. With every poor performance, the narrative shifts from “growing pains” to “wrong quarterback.” Dart’s physical tools aren’t the issue—it’s the mental side that’s caving under pressure. If Ole Miss still harbors hopes of contending in the brutal SEC West, they need Dart to become the leader they imagined—or else start considering a very tough conversation about life after Jaxson Dart this season.
