Missouri’s star quarterback Brady Cook may have played his toughest game of the season against Alabama—and not just because of the defense. Late in the third quarter, Cook was slammed to the turf, grabbing his throwing hand in obvious pain. Trainers immediately examined his wrist, which had visible swelling. While he stayed in the game for a few more plays, sources confirmed after the game that Cook’s hand/wrist injury could affect his availability in the coming weeks. “He’s a warrior, but we’ll have to evaluate things further,” said head coach Eli Drinkwitz. Cook has been the heart of Missouri’s offense, throwing for over 3,000 yards and leading the Tigers into national relevance. Losing him, even short-term, could derail their momentum in a crowded SEC race. The Mizzou fanbase is anxiously awaiting the results of further testing, but the coaching staff is preparing backup Sam Horn just in case. “It’s football—you’ve got to be ready,” Horn said. But there’s no denying it: without Cook, Mizzou loses its swagger. Whether it’s a sprain or something worse, the next few days will determine if the Tigers remain contenders—or hit a painful detour.
