Former Michigan State QB Payton Thorne Confirms Secret Divorce Amid Struggles and Off-Field Pressure

Payton Thorne, the former Michigan State Spartans quarterback now with Auburn, has confirmed long-standing rumors about a secret marriage and quiet divorce that took place within the last year. In an emotional interview with a local Michigan radio station, Thorne admitted that the personal turmoil had been affecting his mental health and on-field performance. “I was trying to hold it all together, but the pressure was a lot — on and off the field,” he said. The news shocked fans who had no idea the quarterback was ever married, let alone divorced. Sources close to the situation say the short-lived marriage happened during the offseason and was kept under wraps to avoid media scrutiny. Teammates reportedly noticed a change in Thorne’s demeanor last season, as he appeared increasingly withdrawn and frustrated. After transferring to Auburn, Thorne hoped for a fresh start, but adjusting to a new system while dealing with unresolved emotional issues proved difficult. This latest revelation brings new context to his struggles in 2024. Many fans have now come forward to express sympathy, praising Thorne for his honesty. With his senior year ahead, he’s focusing on regaining control of both his life and his career.
