The New York Red Bulls have pulled off what many are calling the most ambitious signing in MLS history. Cavan Sullivan, a 14-year-old midfield wizard with vision and maturity well beyond his years, has officially committed to the Red Bulls, turning down monumental offers from European powerhouses Juventus, Arsenal, and Ajax. Sullivan’s decision signals a new age of domestic player retention in the U.S., as the Red Bulls laid out a multi-year developmental plan centered around first-team exposure and tactical growth. “Europe will always be there,” said Sullivan. “But New York gives me the chance to build something powerful at home.” The Red Bulls’ focus on high-pressing, fast-paced football aligns with Sullivan’s aggressive style. Club officials revealed they plan to integrate him into the senior squad’s matchday roster within 18 months. U.S. Soccer officials are already eyeing him as a key figure in their 2026 World Cup blueprint. While Ajax had reportedly offered a direct spot in their prestigious academy, Sullivan was drawn to the Red Bulls’ clear belief in his readiness for top-tier competition. With one bold stroke, New York may have landed not just a player—but a generational shift in American soccer’s global identity.
