In a move that signals Notre Dame’s commitment to elite-level collegiate sports, Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick officially broke ground on the new $150 million Irish Athletic Performance Complex. The state-of-the-art facility will cater to all student-athletes across sports and is expected to open by Fall 2027. The announcement was made during a press conference held near Notre Dame Stadium, with Swarbrick joined by University President Rev. John Jenkins and several key donors.

“This is about giving our student-athletes the best chance to succeed on and off the field,” Swarbrick said. “We want Notre Dame to remain a beacon of excellence.”

The new complex will feature an advanced sports science lab, hydrotherapy recovery rooms, indoor practice fields, and upgraded training centers. Multiple sports, including track and field, lacrosse, basketball, and Olympic sports, will benefit from the shared infrastructure.

Notably, the announcement comes as Notre Dame looks to further solidify its national competitiveness in athletics while maintaining its high academic standards. Coaches like Marcus Freeman and Niele Ivey praised the development, citing its importance in recruiting top-tier talent.

Alumni and fans hailed the announcement as a turning point in Irish athletic history. Construction will begin immediately.
