Otega Oweh receives ‘really, really good feedback’ from NBA teams ahead of withdrawal deadline

A decision is coming for Otega Oweh — whether or not he’s ready to make one. Kentucky’s star guard is knee-deep in the draft process choosing between diving head-first in the pros or returning to shore as a Wildcat in Lexington. After an impressive showing at the NBA draft combine with ongoing workouts ahead of the withdrawal deadline, it’s coming down to the wire, but he has to finalize his plans by Wednesday, May 27 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Which way is he leaning 24 hours and change before the All-SEC talent has to make a move? According to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, it may be closer than some think

In Tuesday’s edition of the Eye on College Basketball Podcast, Norlander predicted a return to Kentucky — like many — but said Oweh’s feedback has been overwhelmingly positive in recent days, giving him something to think about.

Otega Oweh has apparently gotten some really, really good feedback in the past four or five days,” he said. “I previously thought that he was almost a guarantee to come back to Kentucky. I would still pick that he comes back to Kentucky, but apparently what he’s gotten back recently has been good on that end. So we wait and see on that.”

The update comes alongside news of some of college basketball’s biggest stars announcing their returns to school ahead of tomorrow’s withdrawal deadline. Some of those names include Yaxel Lendeborg (Michigan), Alex Condon (Florida), Milos Uzan (Houston), Karter Knox (Arkansas), Mackenzie Mgbako (Texas A&M) and PJ Haggerty (Kansas State), among others, opting for lucrative NIL payouts over potential draft earnings outside the lottery.

Oweh undoubtedly has one of those waiting for him in Lexington should he decide to pull his name out of the draft before Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. ET. Is his stock good enough to turn that down now rather than making his NBA push this time next year? We don’t have to wait long to find out either way.
