Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton on team flight being diverted due to weather: ‘What can you do?’
The Indiana Pacers experienced an unexpected detour on their journey to the NBA Finals.
The team’s flight to Oklahoma City ahead of their Finals matchup against the Thunder was diverted to Tulsa due to severe weather in the area. Tornado warnings and storm alerts in the OKC metro forced the change in plans, according to multiple reports.
Star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who was shocked to hear that the team wasn’t in OKC after waking up, recounted the experience during NBA Finals media day on Wednesday.
We took off, and I slept the whole plane ride, which I don’t normally do,” Haliburton said at NBA Finals media day on Wednesday. “We landed, I was ready to get up and they said we were in Tulsa. We sat there for another hour and then took off again. It felt like we were in the air for another hour and a half. “
The chaotic travel day was the result of a series of severe thunderstorms that swept across Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon. As a result, the Pacers didn’t check into their hotel until much later that evening
