Former kicker Sebastian Janikowski and former wide receiver Peter Warrick played an important role in leading Florida State football to the 1999 National Championship.
The two FSU legends are now in the running for the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame ballot in the class of 2026.
If inducted, Janikowski and Warrick will be the 13th Seminoles to be members of the CFB Hall of Fame. It will be the first time since Warrick Dunnin 2024 that a former Seminole will be enshrined.
The induction ceremony will be on Dec. 8, 2026, during the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas.
Why Sebastian Janikowski, Peter Warrick should be in the College Football Hall of Fame
In three seasons, Janikowski put himself in the record books. The two-time consensus All-American was the ACC’s all-time scoring leader and co-holder of the FSU record for field goals in a game after he left.
He had a 76 percent career success rate. In 1999, 68.7 percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks, and a significant number ended up in the stands. Janikowski won the Lou Groza award two times in 1998 and 1999.
The Oakland Raiders drafted him in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft, where he played all 17 years and one season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2018.
Warrick was well-remembered for his game-sealing touchdown catch that won the Seminoles the national title during the 1999 Sugar Bowl.
