Ranking the best Alabama Football Offensive Coordinators and how Ryan Grubb will compare
Much is expected of new Alabama Football Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb. The 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide should benefit from the offensive partnership that Kalen DeBoer and Grubb developed at Fresno State and at Washington. DeBoer and Grubb have worked together since 2007, when DeBoer was the Sioux Falls head coach and Grubb was first the offensive line coach and later the OC.
Grubb has a reputation as an aggressive play-caller who stresses defenses in multiple ways. Jake Haener shined at quarterback at Fresno State in the 2021 season, passing for almost 4,100 yards. At Washington in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Michael Penix Jr. passed for 9,600 yards, with a completion rate of over 65%. As good as the Washington Huskies were in the 2023 season, Grubb (and DeBoer) have never had the talent they have to work with in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama football fans expect the trio of DeBoer-Grubb-Nick Sheridan to produce an explosive Alabama Crimson Tide offense. If so, Alabama will be in the thick of national championship contention. And Ryan Grubb might become considered one of the Crimson Tide’s best Offensive Coordinators.
