The Seattle Seahawks have a lot on the line on Sunday when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on New Year’s Eve. Both teams come into the game with an 8-7 record, and a loss could kill their playoff hopes. The Steelers are making a bold decision going into the game, opting to start third-string quarterback Mason Rudolph in what’s pretty much a must-win game for Pittsburgh. However, Seahawks defensive end Leonard Williams isn’t underestimating Rudolph or the Steelers going into the game.
He definitely stood out,” Williams said. “He led their offense pretty well and they scored a lot of points. They’re coming off of a high right now, they have a lot of momentum going into this game. They’re a good team and they’re not no slouch and we should definitely not overlook them, that’s every week in this league though. I think it’s definitely going to be a test to our defense to slow down their offense and put our offense on the field.” Rudolph was impressive in last week’s 34-11 over the Cincinnati Bengals, throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns to receiver George Pickens.
With nearly every team dealing with some quarterback injury this season, defenses have often had to prepare for more than one signal caller. And it appears that the Seahawks are ready for whatever Rudolph and the Steelers have to throw at them. The Steelers and Seahawks are set to kick off at 1:05 p.m. PT on Sunday from Lumen Field.
