The Los Angeles Lakers got back on the winning side of things on Friday as they drafted the lonely San Antion Spurs, 123-118. The Lakers were in control throughout the entire game. Even though that was the case, it doesn’t mean it was a cakewalk. Although the Spurs have the third worst record in the league, they possess the game’s youngest and brightest star in the league, 2023 first-overall pick Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama is projected to be a future superstar and possibly a Hall of Famer in this league. He has the talent and possesses all the tools to be great in the NBA, and the Lakers witnessed that firsthand on Friday. It was the team’s first time seeing the 20-year-old since December, and still, he left multiple Lakers speechless. Lakers starting shooting guard Austin Reaves praised the Frenchman. “He’s 7-foot-12,” Reaves said with a laugh, saying that he stopped counting how many of his shots Wembanyama blocked.
Wemby was fantastic in the loss against Los Angeles. The 20-year-old put up 27 points on 7-for-16 shooting, ten rebounds, eight assists, five steals and five blocks. He became the youngest player to record a 5×5 line since the NBA began tracking steals and blocks in 1973-1974.
