Vols Set To Receive 4-Star WR Who Declined 15 Signing Offers…

After attending a few of Tennessee’s home games last season, Dillon Alfred is now planning to make the trip to Knoxville again to attend one of the Vols’ practices. The four-star Class of 2025 wide receiver from Saraland (Ala.) High School posted Sunday on his X account that he’s set to return to Tennessee on Monday for its first spring practice.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Alfred earned a scholarship offer from Tennessee nearly 10 months ago, in late May, with a strong showing at the Vols’ first camp last year. He made the trip to Tennessee three more times during the 2023 season, most recently attending the Vols’ game Oct. 14 against Texas A&M.

He tagged Tennessee coach Josh Heupel and wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope in his post on his X account Sunday in which he revealed his plans to travel to Knoxville this week.

“It’s (been) a minute Vol Nation, but I will be back at @Vol_Football tomorrow!!! #RockyTop,” Alfred posted, along with a pair of orange emojis.

The lone prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball points to Missouri as the favorite to land Alfred, who attended Gautier (Miss.) High School before transferring to Saraland going into his junior year. He told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman earlier this month that the Tigers were at the top of his list.

“When I went up there for a visit, they showed a lot of love to me and my family,” Alfred told Huffman of Missouri. “Coach Drink (Eli Drinkwitz) and I have everyday conversations, and we have a really good relationship. You see Luther Burden making big plays and see what they do with him. They don’t have a problem taking shots down field.”

Alfred has received offers from more than 15 schools, including Missouri, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. He has scheduled an official visit to Missouri the weekend of June 7, and Arkansas is set to host him on an official visit the weekend of June 21.

He’s a four-star prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, where he’s ranked the No. 372 overall player and No. 51 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 17 junior from the state of Alabama. According to 247Sports, he’s a three-star prospect who’s ranked the No. 47 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 19 junior from Alabama.

Earlier this month, Alfred told Huffman that he was planning to visit Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Texas A&M and Texas this spring. One of his Saraland teammates, four-star Class of 2025 quarterback KJ Lacey, is committed to the Longhorns. Alfred also told Huffman earlier this month that he was close to setting up an official visit with Texas A&M.
