Florida coach Billy Napier is due a hefty buyout if he’s fired during or after the 2024 season. The Gators are 1-2 after losing to Texas A&M, 33-20, at home on Sept. 14. Napier, widely presumed to be on the SEC’s hottest seat this fall outside of Sam Pittman at Arkansas, is signed through the 2028 season on a deal he first inked in December 2021 worth $51.8 million. Napier received $7.1 million during his first season and saw an increase of $100,000 last fall amid a 6-7 finish. Parting ways with Napier early would come with a hefty price…
The Chicago Cubs could be in the market for an upgrade at third base. While Matt Shaw could still be the future at the position, he is not going to help them win right now. Shaw started the season in the big leagues and was sent down after struggling. Even now that he is back, he has not shown much improvement at the plate. Defensively, he has been an asset. He is slashing .200/.278/.283 through 230 trips to the plate. The Cubs could lose Kyle Tucker in free agency, so there is extra urgency to win this season. For…
At noon ET on Monday, tampering became legal in the NFL. Despite the class of free agents being perceived as weak by front offices across the league, it didn’t stop a spending spree from teams itching to remake their rosters. For the first time in a long time, rumors were put to bed as the cash flowed after the tampering began. The market has moved a bunch over the first two days, but Wednesday is when those deals can finally become official. Monday saw plenty of the big names come off the board. Quarterbacks like Sam Darnold and Justin Fields…
Want to talk about the DJ Lagway hype? On3’s Andy Staples released his SEC quarterback rankings. And in that list, the former 5-star quarterback has been placed at the best spot among his competitors in the SEC conference. Lagway was ranked ahead of LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers, and Texas’s Arch Manning. The Florida quarterback reeled in some more praise from Gators alumnus Chris Doering. For DJ Lagway, I look at this guy, he is the real deal,” said Doering. So, it’s obvious that Lagway has now turned into an attention magnet. Right now, Billy Napier’s quarterback is…
All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton will remain in Indiana for the foreseeable future after agreeing to an enormous five-year, $260-million maximum contract extension with the Pacers, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The deal became official on July 6. Haliburton, 23, has improved his scoring average in each of his five NBA seasons, including a career-best 20.7 points per game in 2022-23. His assists have trended up as well to an additional career high of 10.4 per game, also set last season. In doing so, Haliburton became only the 15th payer in NBA history to average 20 points and 10 assists in a…

The Tennessee Vols fan base is arguably the best in all of college sports. But while the majority of the Big Orange faithful are passionate and loyal fans who support the program no matter what, there’s a small subset of the fan base, deemed “nega-Vols” by many, that seemingly live to be miserable. You know who I’m talking about — the fire everyone crowd. The fans who tweet negative things at players after a tough game. Every fan base has that group of fans. And that small group of fans is almost always the loudest portion of the fan base.…

Browns have ‘secret plan’ involving Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning, Alabama Crimson Tide football coaching legend Nick Saban The Cleveland Browns aren’t content with any particular quarterback on their roster, which is evident by their ongoing four-way competition to see who will start the season under center. But does the franchise even care if one of Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, or Shedeur Sanders works out? Regardless of who has the keys to the offense, Cleveland is likely to be a basement dweller in the AFC and finish with one of the worst records in the league. That…
