ATLANTA — As Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris walked off the podium from his postgame press conference after Sunday’s 44-38 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers, he shared a warm hug with Falcons owner Arthur Blank. Sporting a red velvet blazer, Blank embraced his first-year coach after a once-promising season ended in all-too-familiar fashion: without a playoff appearance, let alone a winning record. Atlanta (8-9) enters the offseason without quarterback questions for the first time in four years, as rookie Michael Penix Jr.scored three touchdowns and threw for a career-high 312 yards in Sunday’s loss — and the Falcons’…

South Carolina basketball’s Arden Conyers logged the most minutes of his career against Alabama. After recording 16 total minutes played in five appearances prior to the game, Conyers suited up for 19 on Wednesday night. “He’s (Arden) got a little more versatility in terms of how many positions he can play,” head coach Lamont Paris said. “I thought he did a good job defensively on the ball.” The redshirt freshman, ranked 232nd nationally in the class of 2023 per On3, did not see action for last season’s NCAA Tournament team. His lone scoring output was a made three against Towson…
The UNC women’s basketball team, known primarily for its defense, had to count on its offense during Thursday night’s ACC clash with arch-rival Duke. The 19th-ranked Tar Heels and 14th-ranked Blue Devils entered halftime deadlocked at a 16-16 defensive struggle. North Carolina roared out to a big lead in the third quarter, only for Duke to fight back and later send the game into overtime. Duke scored the first three points of overtime, but it was all UNC from there. Facing a 3-point deficit, the Tar Heelsembarked on a 10-3 run and upset their arch-rivals, 53-46. North Carolina (14-3, 2-2…
ANN ARBOR – Although Michigan finished 7-5 in 2024, the program still possesses a championship culture – a community that team captain Max Bredeson is not ready to leave. Bredeson announced he will return for the 2025 season, giving the Wolverines a key leader for their revamped offense. The fullback/tight end revealed his decision through an Instagram video montage with the caption “team 146 let’s do it,” ending speculation about his future that began after Michigan’s victory over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Despite modest receiving statistics of 10 catches for 121 yards in his career, Bredeson, a former walk-on and…
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has played 36 games in his college football career but will be hoping that Friday’s matchup with Ohio State is not his last. Ewers actually began his college career with the Buckeyes, playing just one game during his freshman year before moving to Texas for 2022. He has gone on to be a transformative presence for the Longhorns, setting the record for most passing yard in a conference championship game in 2023 and being named MVP for the Big 12 Championship that same year. Ewers has not yet confirmed whether he will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft but would likely…
The college football world was shaken today when five-star wide receiver Jamal “Jet” Simmons announced his decision to flip his commitment from the Alabama Crimson Tide to the Florida State Seminoles. Simmons, ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class, made the stunning announcement during a live-streamed press conference from his high school gym in Atlanta, Georgia. The room was packed with media, fans, and teammates as Simmons approached the podium wearing a neutral black hoodie. In front of him sat three hats: Alabama, Texas, and Florida State. The tension in the room was palpable…
The College Football Playoff Semifinals started off with an absolute classic, as Notre Dame and Penn State went toe-to-toe for four quarters before Fight Irish kicker Mitch Jeter drilled a 41-yard field goal that sealed the deal on a 27-24 win to send Notre Dame to the National Championship in Atlanta. The Fighting Irish will have a chance now to secure their first national title since 1988. While the celebration will continue through the night in South Bend, there are some other takes on social media that are not in favor of the result and where it stands. One person in…
Notre Dame is heading to the College Football Playoff National Championship after putting down Penn State 27-24 in an all-time classic. It’ll be their first title game appearance since their 1988 title win. Marcus Freeman did that. Not Brian Kelly. Following the Fighting Irish’s win, the LSU head football coach’s name was evoked. And it’s not hard to see why. Kelly famously explained his exodus from South Bend to Baton Rouge as wanting to be in “an environment where I have the resources to win a national championship “I felt like I did everything that I could at Notre Dame and they felt…
Who says that Tigers don’t change their stripes? Certainly, it appears that Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has done exactly that this offseason. After years of avoiding the use of the transfer portal, a practice that drew considerable criticism from people around the nation, the stubborn Swinney has corrected course and decided to utilize that critical aspect of talent acquisition. As a result, Clemson fans are in the highest of spirits. The mood around the Tigers’ fan base jumped even higher on Wednesday when Swinney bolstered his defense by bringing in 3-star transfer Jeremiah Alexander from Alabama. A 6-foot-2, 249-pound inside linebacker…
