DETROIT — Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said he expects to retain his entire coaching staff in 2025. The Tigers went 31-11 after Aug. 10 to clinch the franchise’s 17th playoff appearance and went on to sweep the Houston Astros on the road in the Wild Card Series. They were eliminated Saturday by the Cleveland Guardians in the Division Series. I want to recognize the work of our coaches — tireless and incredible work,” Hinch said Monday in the end-of-season press conference. “I love when players talk about our coaches with such high regard because it goes beyond hitting, pitching,…

Arkansas raised some eyebrows when it tabbed Remy Cofield as its all-sports general manager in March. The much-anticipated hire was different from most of athletic director Hunter Yurachek’s peers, many of whom brought in football or basketball-specific GMs to run their top programs. There may be a year where we need a little bit more for men’s basketball and a little bit less for football because he’s done a really good job negotiating contracts, so you can move that money around,” Yurachek said on May 12. “Once you say, ‘Hey football GM, here’s your money,’ they’re going to spend all…
Michigan State football has entered the summer and is gearing up for the second season under Jonathan Smith, one that will set the ground work for the ascending program that he plans to build in East Lansing. In 2024, the Spartans fell short of the expectation, going 5-7 and not making a postseason appearance. In 2025, the bar has been set higher, and the Spartans will need to make their push towards a postseason appearance. Earlier, Spartans Wire broke down the top 20 players on the roster, showing that there is talent on the roster that will allow the Spartans…

However, Williams still deals with very harsh comparisons and disrespect. This trend has now continued with a new projection from Pro Football Focus. John Kosko of Pro Football Focus gave a…
Mark Pope played it positive in his first season as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. The former UK basketball captain put together a roster on short notice last spring, and that group ended up going a long way in the NCAA Tournament, relative to the program’s recent past, at least. But Pope, encouraging as he was during the 2024-25 season, knows that postseason trips that end in the Sweet 16 don’t meet the annual expectations of Kentucky fans. And, as last season progressed, he watched his team and saw areas that he’d like to shore up moving forward.…
