Infielder Connor Norby, the No. 6 prospect in the organization per MLB Pipeline, is on the Orioles’ taxi squad. However, it’s a precaution and might not include his return to the active roster. Norby went 3-for-14 with a home run before the Orioles optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. He’s batting .286/.380/.498 with 20 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs and 45 RBIs in 65 games with the Tides. Norby’s double last night tied him with Blake Davis for the sixth-most hits in Norfolk history as an Orioles affiliate with 252. He also moved into sole possession of third for doubles…
The Los Angeles Lakers had a lucky draft night on Wednesday which saw a lottery pick-worthy prospect in Dalton Knecht fall to them at No. 17. The Tennessee standout had some concerns heading into the draft, mostly due to the fact that he is an older prospect at age 23, but those don’t necessarily apply to the Lakers. The Lakers want to be championship contenders in the 2024-25 season. They can’t wait around for the development of young prospects. Knecht is as NBA-ready as they come, especially with his elite shooting. He has some defensive concerns but his skill set…
TENNESSEE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW 2024 It’s an interesting time for Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. It’s a bit of a rebuilding year in Heupel’s fourth season, but there’s a reasonable expectation to make it into the College Football Playoff, anyway, because it’s Tennessee, and it seems like that’s what it’s supposed to do.Start with this – Heupel has been an unquestioned success. For all the great things Tennessee has done over the decades – like being the first ever BCS National Champion – the 27 wins in Heupel’s first three seasons is the best run since Phil Fulmer won 28 games from…

Louie Hinchcliffe booked his spot at the Paris Olympics as he won the 100metre title at the UK Athletics Championships in a time of 10.18seconds. In his last appearance at these championships two years ago, he failed to make it out of the heats. Disillusioned with sprinting, he toyed with walking away from the sport altogether before relocating to the University of Houston some nine months ago.
The NFL took a big loss in court this week. A jury found the league broke antitrust laws by selling their “Sunday Ticket” package only on DirecTV and at an inflated price to preserve local ratings for games on FOX and CBS. The total verdict puts the NFL on the hook for $4.8 billion in damages, split between the residential class ($4.696 billion) and commercial class ($97 million; bars, restaurants, etc.). Under anti-trust law that $4.696 billion figure gets tripled to $14.088 billion. The NFL is of course fighting the verdict. A post-trial motions hearing conducted by Judge Philip Gutierrez…
Mazi Smith was the No. 28 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft as the Dallas Cowboys finally appeared to take the defensive tackle position seriously. Unfortunately, his rookie season wound up being a disappointment. Smith hardly saw the field, and when he was out there, he didn’t do anything significant. He was often slow off the snap and played underweight—although that was said to be due to Dan Quinn’s preference. Heading into his second season, Smith is penciled in as the starter, but that’s due to the lack of options rather than anything he put on film. With this…
There’s no franchise with a longer NFL tenure than the Chicago Bears. Though not quite as long as its history, the club’s search for a bona fide Bears franchise quarterback has been a lengthy and fruitless endeavor. For the first time in the Common Draft Era (since 1967), the Bears selected a player with the No. 1 overall pick, choosing USC quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams has already made history with his selection alone, but the Bears are hoping he’s the answer for their seemingly endless search for an authentic franchise QB. A closer look thanks to NFL Research, shows just…
The San Francisco 49ers have been dealing with contract negotiations between themselves and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for some time. There has been a stalemate between the two sides over the amount, as Aiyuk believes he is worth more than what San Francisco has been willing to offer so far. He will be entering the final year of his rookie contract and is scheduled to make $14.1 million this season. But after seeing what some of the other elite wide receivers have been getting around the NFL, Aiyuk seems to be holding his ground. Read More: Brandon Aiyuk Calls…
