In the race to stay atop recruitment efforts, the grind doesn’t stop for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs as he aims for his third national title.
After winning the 2024 SEC Championship, the Bulldogs faced a disappointing end in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff quarterfinals, where they were defeated by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
To ensure his program remains a top contender in the national title picture for years to come, Smart is heating up his recruitment efforts for top talent as the program looks to land its first verbal commitment for the 2027 class.

According to Rivals’ Adam Gorney, the Bulldogs have “extended their lead as the front-runner” to land 6-foot-2, 215-pound sophomore linebacker Quinton Cypher out of Raleigh, N.C.
Currently ranked No. 10 overall in his home state of North Carolina and No. 12 at linebacker nationally in the class of 2027, Cypher spent time in Georgia last week where he saw the football team in action and also took in some meetings.
From a campus tour to playing games with players to a strength and conditioning presentation to seeing the facilities to seeing practice and being in meetings,” Gorney detailed, “Cypher got the whole experience and loved it.”
Smart and the Bulldogs have consistently excelled in attracting elite talent. Currently, they hold the No. 12 ranked 2026 recruiting class in the nation, per On3, featuring several four-star commitments.
With only six hard commitments for 2026, filling key positions such as quarterback, linebacker, and offensive tackle will be crucial for Smart to lead the Bulldogs back to the national championship this season and in the future.
