Alexander Georgiev addresses Avalanche coach giving him multiple starts despite struggling start
Colorado Avalanche netminder Alexander Georgiev recently expressed gratitude to the coach for trusting him with multiple starts despite a rough start to the season.

The Colorado Avalanche are facing a tough start to the season, suffering their fourth consecutive defeat, marking the first time they’ve opened a season with four losses since 1998-99.

In Wednesday’s matchup against the Boston Bruins, the Avalanche fell behind 4-1 in the second period. However, they fought back with two powerplay goals from Cale Makar and Mikko Rantanen, cutting the deficit to 4-3 in the third period.

John Beecher ultimately sealed the victory for the Bruins with an empty net goal in the 18th minute, resulting in a 5-3 loss for Colorado.

Alexander Georgiev, who allowed four goals against the Bruins and has given up 17 in the last four outings, expressed his appreciation for the Avalanche coach’s trust in him. He said:

“I appreciate it a lot. It’s a lot of trust, and I try to, try to bring my best every night, you know, trying, like I said, try not to think too much about the past and good things will happen. I believe in that.”

Georgiev acknowledged that while he felt he played well, there were areas for improvement, particularly regarding the fourth goal he conceded.

He emphasized the importance of staying present and not carrying the weight of past games into future performances.

The 28-year-old netminder urged his team to maintain a focused mindset as they prepare for their next challenge. Last season, Alex Georgiev led the NHL with 38 wins.

Alexander Georgiev and the Avalance remain winless after four games

Cole Koepke opened the scoring for the Bruins to give them a 1-0 lead at 13:46 of the first period. Ross Colton then tied it 1-1 for the Avalanche after scoring on the powerplay off Rantanen’s pass inside the right circle at 15:07.
