GREEN BAY – Former Packers athletic trainer Pepper Burruss will be recognized this summer as a Pro Football Hall of Fame Award of Excellence recipient for 2025.

Burruss is one of three former NFL athletic trainers to be selected for the June 25-26 ceremony in Canton, Ohio, along with Ed Block and John Norwig, bringing the total to 14 athletic trainers so honored.

All three also were recently chosen as the Professional Football Athletic Trainer Society’s (PFATS) Hall of Fame inductees for 2025.

Beginning a 42-year NFL career with the New York Jets in 1977, Burruss came to the Packers in 1993 and spent 26 years in Green Bay, most as head athletic trainer and then his final four seasons as director of sports medicine. He retired in 2019.

Among several honors he received throughout his career, Burruss was named the NFL Physicians Society’s Outstanding NFL Athletic Trainer in 2012. The year before, the Packers were chosen as the NFL Athletic Training Staff of the Year by those in the field. He also represented PFATS on the NFL’s head, neck and spine medical committee.
