The Oklahoma Sooners rebounded in a major way last weekend, defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 24-3 at home in front of several key recruits. That win brought some much-needed momentum and positivity back into the building, as the Sooners hadn’t beaten an FBS team since their September comeback win against the Auburn Tigers.
This win likely kept their already committed recruiting class together, but it might have also gone a long way in adding even more to that class.
Linebacker Kaleb Burns, a four-star currently committed to the Baylor Bears, visited the Sooners last weekend for the Alabama game, and that game might have put the Sooners in the lead to flip his commitment
Burns has been committed to the Bears since July, but both Oklahoma and the Oregon Ducks have been in hot pursuit the whole time. The Ducks brought him out to see their win over Ohio State last month.
However, the momentum seems to be building behind the Sooners. Steve Wiltfong officially logged a prediction for the Sooners to secure Burns’s commitment, as did Collin King, an Oregon recruiting insider
Burns’s primary recruiter, defensive coordinator Zac Alley, has been a tremendous developer of linebackers at multiple schools, including transforming Oklahoma’s into a dominant unit. Head coach Brent Venables also boasts his own long history of producing talented linebackers. Both of those two are gunning hard to secure Burns.
With Danny Stutsman heading to the NFL Draft, the Sooners could use some more additional reinforcements in their linebacking corps. Burns’s film shows a pretty athletic playmaker, which should help Oklahoma’s linebacker room stay one of the best in college football.
