Georgia Bulldogs running back Trevor Etiennehas been named as one of the most underrated players in the 2025 NFL draft.
Etienne is ranked as the No. 12 running back and No. 133 prospect in the NFL draft, but ESPN’s Field Yates thinks Etienne should be ranked higher. Yates has Etienne as his fifth-ranked running back. NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. is also higher on Etienne than most.
Yates likes what Etienne brings to the table as a receiver. Etienne never put up monster numbers during his three season college career, but he was a steady producer. However, the advantage of Etienne’s lighter levels of production is that he did not take as much wear and tear on his body (under 400 career college carries).
Etienne rushed for 609 yards and nine touchdowns on 122 carries in his only season at Georgia. He scored the SEC championship game’s winning touchdown and had a pair of impressive games against the Texas Longhorns. The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back player the first two college football seasons with the Florida Gators.
Etienne has had a strong week at the Senior Bowlwhere he is showing off his versatility as a rusher and pass catcher.
Mel Kiper Jr. highlights the high supply of running backs as a reason why Etienne could drop in the draft. Kiper Jr. thinks over 30 running backs could be drafted and believes there’s more quality running backs available than what NFL teams need. The running back position has been devalued over the years, but the running game has become more important in the NFL in recent seasons with more and more NFL teams playing two-high safety coverage with greater frequency.
