In one of the biggest shockers of the Big Ten season, Brendan Sorsby lit up the scoreboard and led the Indiana Hoosiers to a stunning 38–24 upset over No. 7 Penn State at Memorial Stadium. The sophomore quarterback, known more for his potential than production until now, played the game of his life—throwing for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns while rushing for another score to cap a career-defining day.
From the first snap, Sorsby looked dialed in, slicing up the Nittany Lions’ defense with confident throws to wideouts Donaven McCulley and Cam Camper, both of whom eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark. The offensive line gave Sorsby time to operate, and he made Penn State pay for every defensive mistake. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers’ defense played inspired football, forcing two turnovers—including a strip-sack by linebacker Aaron Casey that led to a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown.
After the final whistle, Sorsby shouted into the cameras, “Nobody believed in us—but we believed in ourselves!” The win marks Indiana’s first victory over a top-10 opponent in four years and could prove a turning point for head coach Curt Cignetti’s program. If Sorsby continues this level of play, the Hoosiers might not be underdogs much longer.
