With a 26-7 record, Boston is still the greatest team in the league despite the loss, and they will definitely have the best chance of winning the NBA title in 2023–2024.
Boston tied the game late, cutting the lead in the fourth quarter with several trips to the free line. Josh Giddey scored two big free throws to end the game, but the Thunder showed resiliency. Following a nearly successful 3-pointer by Kristaps Porzingis, Gilgeous-Alexander would make another pair.
The victory was no accident; it extended the OKC winning streak to five, giving them a 23-9 record on the season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team’s bonafide MVP candidate, added 36 points on 14-for-22 shooting to down the Celtics.
Josh Giddey had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Chet Holmgren added 14 points, seven assists and four blocks for the Thunder, who entered the night with the league’s fourth-best record.
Kristaps Porzingis scored 34 points and Jayson Tatum had 30 for the Celtics, who had won six straight and 11 of 12.
