Clemson Tigers’ Quarterback Admits Schools Tried to Poach Him Following Sophomore Season

Clemson, SC – Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik has revealed that multiple schools attempted to lure him away following his sophomore season, taking advantage of the ever-changing landscape of college football and the NCAA transfer portal.

Klubnik, who started for the Tigers in 2024, faced a rollercoaster season that saw Clemson finish with a 9-4 record, including a bowl victory. While his play showed flashes of brilliance, inconsistency led to speculation about his long-term role as the program’s starter.

In a recent interview, Klubnik admitted that he received interest from other schools but never seriously considered leaving. “Yeah, there were definitely some schools reaching out through back channels,” Klubnik said. “But I love Clemson, I love my teammates, and I believe in what we’re building here.”

The growing trend of schools attempting to recruit players already committed to other programs has become a major topic in college football. While tampering remains against NCAA rules, enforcement has been challenging.

With Klubnik committed to staying at Clemson, he is now focused on leading the Tigers into the 2025 season and proving that he can take the program back to the College Football Playoff.
