Penn State Nittany Lions basketball center Yanic Konan Niederhauser has declared for the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining his NCAA eligibility by not hiring an agent. This strategic move allows him the option to return to Penn State for another collegiate season based on feedback from NBA scouts.
Niederhauser transferred to Penn State from Northern Illinois, where he averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. In his first season with the Nittany Lions, he significantly elevated his performance, posting averages of 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 0.7 steals over 25.1 minutes per game. His impressive contributions have positioned him as a potential All-Conference player should he opt to return for another season.
Importantly, Niederhauser has confirmed he is not entering the transfer portal and will remain with Penn State if he decides to continue his collegiate career. This announcement provides clarity amid recent roster changes, including the departures of freshmen Miles Goodman and Hudson Ward, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month.
