Baylor Football To Name Former All-American from Rival School as General Manager
According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Baylor Bears are expected to name Aaron Hunt as the program’s next general manager.
Hunt has been part of the Bears’ staff since 2021 and was most recently the Assistant Athletic Director for Player Personnel. However, before that, Hunt was an All-American defensive lineman for one of Baylor’s biggest rivals.
From 2000-02, Hunt played defensive line at Texas Tech and is tied with Iowa State’s Will McDonald as the all-time career sack leader in the Big 12 with 34.
He was selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, but was released by the team before finishing his first season.
After trying to make it in opportunities with Arizona, Miami, and even back in Denver, Hunt would go to the Canadian Football League and sign with with BC Lions in 2006. It was an excellent move for him, as Hunt earned the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award with 15 tackles and nine sacks on the year.
He finished a six-year career with BC logging 170 tackles, 41 sacks, one interception, and five fumble recoveries.
