Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman has made a few more changes to his coaching staff.
Days after Klieman announced a promotion to offensive coordinator for Matt Wells, he has also found new roles for a pair of his other assistant coaches.
Brian Lepak, who spent the past three seasons tutoring tight ends, will coach the offensive line next season.
Drew Liddle is also being promoted to assistant offensive line coach after spending last year as an offensive analyst for the Wildcats.
Klieman thinks the K-State front five will be in good hands with two former offensive linemen in charge of the position.
“Not only is Brian one of the top young coaches in our conference, but his background and experience with the offensive line made him the logical choice for this role,” Klieman said in a statement. “It was also important to have two coaches work in the trenches with our guys, and elevating Drew to assist Brian provides us stability and allows for a smooth transition.”
Klieman was forced to make adjustments to his staff after Conor Riley decided to leave his post as K-State offensive coordinator and offensive line coach to take a job with the Dallas Cowboys.
K-State still has one vacant position on its coaching staff. Klieman needs to hire a new tight ends coach. Odds are good he will make an external hire for that job.
Lepak brought in several talented tight ends while he coached the position.
He also played offensive line for Oklahoma when he was a college student.
“I am grateful that Coach Klieman and Coach Wells have the faith in me to take this next step in my career,” Lepak said. “I am excited to get back to coaching the offensive line and building on the many things I learned from Coach Riley. Whomever becomes the new tight ends coach will be getting a group that is extremely coachable and gave Kansas State their very best the last three seasons. I cannot thank those guys enough for all they have done for me.”
