Florida added to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday with the commitment of four-star Miami Northwestern cornerback J’Vari Flowers.
Flowers reclassified from the 2026 class in January and took official visits to Auburn, Florida, Miami, North Carolina and Notre Dame. Although Miami had a hometown advantage and received the final official visit from Flowers, Notre Dame was the main competitor with Florida has things wound down in his recruitment.
“(Florida) picked it up towards the end,” Flowers said. “They got a young team. Their future is going to be real bright, and I like what they got going. They just got Coach D-Will, and we been talking since he was at Arkansas. He’s a pretty great coach.”
Being familiar with assistant coach Deron Wilson and seeing an opportunity to play relatively early at Florida were two of the bigger factors in his decision. Flowers says he’ll remain humble, but Florida’s secondary was beat up last year and is still dealing with injuries in spring camp.
Flower is a top-100 recruit who should instantly impact Florida’s secondary and boost Florida’s 247Sports team composite ranking to seventh overall in the class of 2025. The Gators now have the fourth-highest ranked recruiting class behind Texas, Georgia and Alabama at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively.

“Aggressive cover corner that could emerge as a real difference-maker in the slot with his physicality and twitch,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in January 2025. “Has measured under 5-foot-11, but makes up for the lack of length with his foot speed and a thicker core. Does a favorable job of anticipating routes and fighting for positioning as he battles with his hands and mirrors with his hips. Active eyes constantly put him in position to make plays as he finds ways to get to the catch point. Solid as an open-field tackler at the stage as he will get ball carries on the ground. Not afraid to lower the shoulder pad and pop someone, either.”
