    LSU’s Jared Jones reveals what he said to umpire after hitting walk-off home run against the Tennessee Vols

    LSU Tigers infielder Jared Jones provided one of the biggest sports moments of the week with his three-run walk-off home run against the Tennessee Vols.

    Jones’ three-run homer gave LSU a 6-3 win in game one of a three-game series against Tennessee (the Tigers ended up taking two out of three from the Volunteers).

    The home run from Jones went viral not only because it gave LSU a win after trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth, but also because the home plate umpire nearly pushed Jones to first base.

     

    Jones, as players tend to do these days, admired his home run for a few seconds before beginning his trot.

    Jones revealed to the SEC Network what he said to the umpire in that moment.

    “Once I hit it, I knew it was gone,” said Jones. “I kind of told the umpire that the game was over and kind of just started my trot after that. It was awesome. It was unreal. And this place was going crazy.”

    “Basically,” added Jones when asked to confirm that he told the umpire the game was over. “He told me to get going and I was just kind of like, ‘man, the game’s over, I’m gonna take my time.'”
