The Kentucky Wildcats continue to make waves in the transfer portal, and their latest addition is a big one.
Defensive lineman David Gusta, a standout transfer from Washington State, has officially made his commitment to join the Wildcats, choosing over Texas A&M and Tennessee.

Gusta, a 6-foot-3, 302-pound force in the trenches, brings a wealth of experience and versatility to Kentucky’s defensive line. He played a key role for the Cougars during his time in Pullman, showcasing his ability to stop the run and generate interior pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
In the 2024 season, he recorded 21 tackles, three pass deflections, and one sack while earning a standout 84.5 Pro Football Focus grade. That was the 10th-best mark in all of college football last season among interior defensive linemen.
Overall, Gusta had 62 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and four pass deflections in his three seasons with Washington State.
For Kentucky, Gusta’s arrival couldn’t come at a better time. Kentucky was looking to bolster its defensive front following the departure of Keeshawn Silver. Gusta’s combination of size, athleticism, and experience fills a critical need for Kentucky as they prepare for a challenging 2025 SEC schedule.
With Gusta in the fold, Kentucky fans can look forward to a re-energized defensive line. His addition solidifies the Wildcats’ commitment to building a dominant presence in the trenches.
Make no mistake about it. This is a major get for a Kentucky football program that desperately needed it.
