Texas A&M and Arkansas Forge Historic SEC Alliance; Jimbo Fisher and Sam Pittman to Share Training Resources

In a move that’s raising eyebrows across the Southeastern Conference, Texas A&M and Arkansas have formed what both programs are calling a “Recruiting and Development Alliance.” The initiative, spearheaded by new Aggies head coach Mike Elko and veteran Arkansas coach Sam Pittman, will see both schools collaborate on scouting, summer camps, and select player development programs. Although the schools remain fierce on-field rivals, both coaches emphasized the need to think “strategically” about talent acquisition and player growth amid the NIL era. The two programs will co-host a July training camp in Dallas, where top recruits like Texas A&M’s five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart and Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson will be present for skills demonstrations. “It’s about lifting the region and competing nationally,” said Pittman. Elko echoed that sentiment: “We’re not merging teams—we’re sharpening iron with iron.” The alliance will also involve joint data analytics reviews and sports science exchanges, giving both squads competitive tools previously reserved for elite Big Ten and SEC East programs. While SEC officials haven’t formally commented, fans across both fanbases are buzzing with excitement.
