Nottingham Forest have been mentioned to Gio Reyna
Well, it would appear that Mendes has been set the task of bringing some new players to Forest this month.
According to ESPN, one big deal for him to do this month is to find Dortmund starlet Reyna a club where he can play regular football.
Several clubs are mentioned in the article ranging from Wolves and Forest in the Premier League to Marseille and Benfica elsewhere in Europe.
It’s claimed that Mendes has mentioned the possibility of him moving to Forest to Reyna as he weighs up his next move.
Reyna is going to be available for around £13 million this month and he will want to play regularly wherever he goes.
The 2023/24 campaign has been largely frustrating for the talented youngster.
He’s started just once in the Bundesliga and will be out of contract with Dortmund in the summer of 2025.
Who is Gio Reyna?
For starters, he was born in Sunderland and is the son of Claudio Reyna who spent time at Sunderland and Manchester City as a player.
Reyna is a product of the Dortmund youth academy having signed from a similar setup at New York City in 2019.
The Forest-linked Reyna is a versatile performer and typically plays as a number 10 or out on the wing.
This season has been a frustrating one for him. Now, after 33 goal contributions in 119 appearances, he could now be considering a move.
Reyna is also a regular with the national team. He’s made 24 appearances for the USA, scoring seven times and boss Gregg Berhalter called him ‘relentless’ in October.
Rumour rating: 8/10 – Forest will hope that signing Reyna can see him have a similar impact to Anthony Elanga.
He wasn’t playing with Manchester United and had racked up mediocre stats. At Forest, however, he’s he’s sat on 10-goal contributions already.
Anything could happen during this transfer window and Reyna to Forest is one to watch.
