The Chicago Bears kicked off the new season with a big win on Sunday, September 8. The Bears hosted the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field, and it resulted in a 24-17 victory for the home team after a hard-fought encounter.
Arguably the biggest star in attendance was U.S. gymnastics icon Simone Biles, who turned up to support her husband, Jonathan Owens, in his Chicago debut. Biles was not left disappointed after Owens scored a touchdown in the third quarter following a blocked punt. That crucial TD got the Bears’ comeback underway. At that point, the Bears were able to cut down Tennessee’s lead to 17-10 after scoring the extra point.
The Bears would go on a furious fourth-quarter run where they outscored the Titans, 14-0, leading to a huge opening-day victory. Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens (36) enters the field before a pre- season game. This came much to the delight of Biles, who sent a strong two-word message after the win.
“BEAR DOWN,” Biles posted on Threads. Biles was referencing Chicago’s famed fight song, which has become the battle cry among the fans. Despite her busy schedule, Biles has taken the time here to play the role of a supportive wife.
The 27-year-old is making her final preparations for the upcoming Gold Over America Tour, which has been billed as a pop concert-like extravaganza that will showcase Biles’ Olympic journey alongside other American gymnasts. As such, Simone won’t be attending each of Owens’ games this season, so it’s definitely great that the Bears came out victorious with Biles in attendance.
