Simone Biles has apologized to the Chicago Bears fans for wearing a jacket with the colors of one of their NFL rivals during a preseason match against the Cincinnati Bengals in support of her husband.
Jonathan Owens, who now plays for the Bears after departing from the Green Bay Packers, married Biles in 2023 and the pair have made their support for each other no secret which is why the Olympic champion owns Packers clothing.
In what was perhaps a moment of naivety or simply habit, the 27-year-old rocked a Packers jacket to the Bears-Bengals match on August 17 leaving fans upset she was showing the colors of their rivals, located just 206 miles away.
“Yes, I have plenty [of Bears gear] now,” Biles said to Bears fans whilst speaking with TMZ. “So, don’t you worry, guys!”
We will have to wait to see how the 2024 Olympic Games triple-gold medalist and silver medalist is received by Bears fans when she eventually appears at Soldier Field for a 2024/25 NFL game.
Regardless, Owens feels supported by her in his quest for Super Bowl glory that has seen him travel between the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Packers and now the Bears, stating that when the 29-year-old linebacker comes home to his wife, things feel better.
“When it comes from traveling to different events or coming to my football games, it makes [us] want to go out there and try harder,” Owens told The Post. “Or you want to improve just because you know that your family is there supporting you.
“That’s just one thing that we always make sure to do with each other because you do understand what each other goes through, and you know how hard it is when you’re a professional athlete.
