In the OG Anunoby trade, the New York Knicks sent reserve point guard Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors. Shortly after, they signed a long-term contract with Quickley’s replacement.
On December 30, the Knicks revealed that they had signed Miles McBride to a multi-year contract. The agreement is for three years and a total value of $13 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.The Knicks locked up McBride in a sliding, team-friendly deal, much like they did with Mitchell Robinson and Jalen Brunson, in a cunning move.
Following the transaction in which the Knicks also sent RJ Barrett to the Raptors, McBride—the 36th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft—began to assume a more prominent role.McBride, who has been benched by the Knicks for a while, will take Quickley’s spot in the second unit.
Malachi Flynn, another point guard, was acquired by the Knicks as part of the Raptors trade. However, he will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, therefore his future with the organisation remains unclear.
The 25-year-old Flynn, who was chosen five choices ahead of McBride in 2020, averaged 5.1 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 31 games played for the Raptors this season.The 23-year-old point guard led the Knicks in minutes played during a 140-126 loss, with a season-high of 18 minutes.
