The Florida Gators are losing a key football assistant. Gators Online can confirm that defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong is leaving to become the defensive coordinator at Houston. Armstrong is in his second season with the Gators. In 2023, he ran the defense. But in 2024, those duties were split in some capacity with Ron Roberts, whom Florida hired last offseason as executive head coach/co-defensive coordinator. Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end and college football expert David Pollack thinks that Georgia has an easier College Football Playoff path to the national championship game than the Oregon Ducks. Gleaton Jones, a former walk-on running back for the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team, has died at 21 following a car crash this week. Jones died on Friday, Dec. 13, according to an obituary shared by Matthews Funeral Home. His death comes three days after a Tuesday, Dec. 10 car crash left him hospitalized with a brain injury, according to UGA’s independent student newspaper The Red & Black.
