Entering the final year of his contract, on the fifth-year option and coming off back-to-back seasons with at least 75 catches, over 1,000 yards and at least seven touchdowns, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk would like to get paid.According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network in late March,, the two sides “are not close” to a deal and trade rumors around Aiyuk persist as the draft approaches. The top potential suitors are easy to name, matching need with the ability to pay Aiyuk on the back end of a trade to get him. It’s safe to say the Detroit Lions have…

After a very successful start to the 2024 NFL offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have some pressure on them to finish filling out their starting lineup in the draft. They still need to add a center, an offensive tackle, and a wide receiver. One new mock draft predicts they’ll make a blockbuster move to address that last need. In his latest mock draft for Pro Football Network, Brian Blewis predicted that the Steelers will make a huge splash in the first round. He proposed a trade that would see Pittsburgh send picks 20, 51, and 84 to the Bears in exchange fort he draft’s ninth pick.…

We’re just a few weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft and it’s time to finally time to put all of the projections to the test. The Steelers need to fill a multitude of positions but should prioritize their offensive line and wide receiver room with their first few picks. Let’s take a look at how they could do that. Round 1, Pick 20: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia Mims is probably the consensus pick at 20 for Pittsburgh – and for good reason. The Steelers completed the hat trick with the Georgia Bulldog, which included a formal meeting with him at the NFL combine, a…

Despite winning the NFC this past season, there are several needs for the San Francisco 49ers leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft. General manager John Lynch and Co. have to seriously consider investing on the offensive line with Trent Williams’ career coming to an end soon and right tackle seen as a major issue. The 49ers also lost depth during NFL free agency earlier in the offseason. For a team that fancies itself as a title contender, that must be addressed. There’s good news here. San Francisco boasts 10 picks in the draft. They have also largely hit on mid-to-late round selections. Here,…

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson enjoyed a fruitful 2023 season as he won his secomd MVP award in Todd Monken’s first year as offensive coordinator. Lamar had a career-high in pass attempts (457), completions (307), and pass yards (3,678) with the Ravens offense averaging 28.4 points per game (ranked fourth). But one negative was that Jackson was sacked 37 times (second most in his career) Now, Jackson’s offensive line that gave up 37 sacks has been ravaged by free agency. Morgan Moses was traded to the New York Jets, and Kevin Zeitler (Lions) and John Simpson (Jets) all walked out…

Quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract is the main topic of contract in Dallas. How will the Cowboys handle his massive contract to build a roster around him? Trade, cut, extend, or “other” are all options. With Dak taking 21.2% of the Cowboys’ cap space, the need to spend draft picks seems even higher. Offensive tackle, center, defensive tackle, linebacker, and cornerback are all high needs in Dallas. Even with all the Cowboys’ needs, the focus might be on helping Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb take the offense to the next level. Dallas Cowboys Draft The Cowboys have seven picks in the upcoming draft…

As quiet as the Dallas Cowboys have been on the open market this offseason, the same is true for their internal order of business. Quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and star pass rusher Micah Parsons are all due for raises on their next deals. The Cowboys have expressed clear interest in keeping all three in Dallas for the long haul, but no extensions have been signed. What’s the pecking order of importance between the three? Who could be the odd man out? Can the Cowboys end their championship drought with all three on massive deals? We asked The Athletic’s Cowboys beat writers, Jon Machota and Saad Yousuf, to evaluate…

One of the most underrated qualities a leader can possess is the ability to adapt adeptly to unexpected situations they are unexpectedly thrust into. Erik Spoelstra, then an assistant coach for the Miami Heat, found himself in precisely such a scenario during the 2005-06 season. When a video session was on the agenda, head coach Pat Riley suddenly turned to him and thrust him right into the spotlight. “You go over every clip. Call out the players.‘You didn’t get back on defense.’ ‘You didn’t take the charge.’ There he was in front of the team for the first time,” Riley recounted…

Dobbins is a talented running back who has been hampered by injury throughout his professional career. Through 23 career games, he’s accumulated 1,347 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He suffered a torn ACL in the 2021 preseason and eventually missed the regular season. He then suffered another knee injury in 2022. Last season, Dobbins’s season was cut short in Week 1 after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon after finishing with 22 yards and a touchdown.
