The Los Angeles Lakers entered their March 31 battle with Brooklyn as winners of five of their past six, clinging to the ninth seed in the NBA Western Conference. The Lakers took a commanding 17-0 lead to open the game, but LeBron James catching fire from three-point land stole the show. James ended the contest with 40 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while his 9-of-10 effort from beyond the arc matched a career-high. The Los Angeles bench erupted several times during James’ offensive outburst, but the final three-pointer he hit was perhaps the most awe-inspiring of…
we have talked long about in this feature, the Edmonton Oilers would need to get creative and jump into the junior and collegiate ranks for free agent signings. With draft picks being sent out frequently in trades to bolster the Oilers’ roster for a playoff run, the team needed to source young talent in other ways. So it was not so surprising the Oilers announced the signing of James Stefan on March 21, 2024 to a three-year entry-level contract. Well, James Stefan has set the bar quite high to start his career with the Edmonton Oilers. In the five games…
After getting swept in a two-tilt mini-series against the Atlanta Hawks, the Boston Celtics bounced back with a 104-92 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. While they didn’t get off to an encouraging start in the Crescent City, surrendering 37 points in the first quarter, the visitors dialed in defensively after the opening frame, limiting Zion Williamson and Co. to 55 points in the final 36 minute Jaylen Brown, who registered 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block, took on the challenge of guarding the six-foot-six, 284-pound Williamson with force and physicality while…
Unable to come up with more excuses as to why the Phoenix Suns are unable to stay consistent game-by-game, the on-court dissolving effort must be formed by something internal. The lack of effort or inability to find the fortitude and leadership to rally from a 20-point deficit with five minutes remaining in a game must begin in the locker room. Halfway through the third quarter on Friday night, Suns guard Devin Booker managed to pick up his fourth and fifth fouls due to a lackadaisical defense and an inability to concentrate on bringing the team back into the game against…
Detroit Lions are coming off the franchise’s most successful season, with the team making it to the NFC Championship Game and falling short of a trip to the Super Bowl, with the San Francisco 49ers pulling off the comeback in the second half. Although the Lions came incredibly close to making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in the franchise’s history, Detroit had some areas that needed to be addressed during the NFL offseason, mainly on the defensive side of the football. Even though they have a late first-round pick (No. 29 overall) due to the…
After Tony Pollard departed the Cowboys in free agency for the Tennessee Titans, Dallas has some room to add. And might be interested in a former running back. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott have “mutual interest” in a reunion. Elliott spent the 2023 season with the New England Patriots. The Cowboys employed Elliott for his first seven seasons before releasing him last year. He went on to sign a one-year deal with the Patriots. Elliott played in all 17 games for New England — who finished the year 4-13 — and rushed for…

The San Francisco 49ers are trying to extend WR Brandon Aiyuk but there are few positives to feel good about at the moment. Besides Aiyuk dropping cryptic, seemingly negative messages, the latest report from one of the NFL’s most prominent insiders is only piling on the bad energy. On March 30, NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo spoke on TV about the situation. Essentially, the 49ers have a lot of work to do for an extension. “Basically it’s a little bit of a standoff right now,” Garafolo said. “Now look, this is not where the Deebo Samuel thing was,…

Since head coach Josh Heupel took over, the Tennessee Volunteers have been preparing for the 2025 recruiting cycle. They’re off to a strong start. When he took the job, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel faced an uphill battle on the recruiting trail. The NCAA was investigating the football program for recruiting violations committed by the previous coaching staff, not to mention the Vols’ lackluster recent history on the gridiron. Heupel and company had a full calendar year to recruit prospects beginning with the 2023 cycle, and they’ve been improving consistently since. The coaches knew early that the in-state crop in…
