While they didn’t officially couple up until 2008 — though more on that later — Stephen and Ayesha’s love story technically dates back to 2003, when the two first met as teens at a church youth group in Charlotte, N.C. Reflecting back on their first meeting, Ayesha told PEOPLE, “We were just kids. He was the cute boy at church that all of the girls were obsessed with, so I made a generalization that maybe he wasn’t for me.” Meanwhile, in the same interview, Stephen revealed that he doesn’t remember the “exact first day” he first met his future wife. “There was no wind blowing in her face with a backlight,” he quipped.
