Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir has revealed that Brennan Johnson trained with the rest of the Tottenham squad on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming clash against Everton.
While Johnson appeared quite cautious with his displays during his first couple of months at Spurs following his big-money move in the summer, the winger has been growing in confidence over recent weeks and showing flashes of the talent we saw from him against Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old delivered what was arguably his best display in a Tottenham shirt in the 4-1 win over Newcastle United last week, being direct and aggressive, and he was quite unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, hitting the woodwork twice.
However, Johnson did not have a happy homecoming on his return to the City Ground last Friday after he was forced off after 31 minutes following a nasty clash of heads.
Ange Postecoglou said in his post-match press conference that there was nothing to be alarmed about having avoided a concussion, revealing that the Wales international instead sustained a cut to his head (Football.London).
Weir, who was at Hotspur Way on Tuesday to cover Tottenham’s training session, confirmed that the winger did take part in the session as Postecoglou’s squad prepared for the clash against the Toffees on Saturday.
The journalist told Sky Sports: “The good news is that Brennan Johnson is out there. He came off with 20 minutes gone against his old club on Friday night. After the game, Ange Postecoglou said just a deep cut, not a concussion, so it’s good to see Brennan Johnson out there.”
It is a big boost to have Johnson fit as it means that Postecoglou can continue playing Dejan Kulusevski in the number ten role against Everton, with the Swede continuing to look extremely menacing in that position.
