LAKE FOREST, Ill.., — The Chicago Bears wrapped up day three of mandatory minicamp on Thursday with all eyes on the 2024 first-overall draft pick in Caleb Williams as he gets his feet wet in the NFL. The former Heisman trophy winner got his first exposure to playing against an NFL defense in the past three days, as he played in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills against the likes of Pro Bowl-caliber players like linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and cornerback Jaylon Johnson. As expected, growing pains were the theme of many reports out of minicamp for Williams. The rookie signal-caller reportedly…
It is possible, however outlandish it might seem now, that the Cowboys and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will continue their game of contract chicken into NFL training camp, have it morph into a holdout from Lamb and ultimately create so much negative energy that Cowboys brass finally decides to chuck it all in and simply trade Lamb elsewhere. Longshot, no doubt. But also possible. Lamb did not show up for mandatory practices last week, and could be fined around $100,000 for the decision. Those fines will continue if he goes into training camp without a new deal, at…
Once again, the Phoenix Suns’ season ended in disappointment, far from the NBA Finals and their fans’ expectations. Despite what owner Mat Ishbia said at the end of the season, the team could make changes this summer. According to John Gambadoro, via Evan Sidery, the Suns have three roster needs that they are prioritizing this offseason. Apparently, they are looking for a point guard who can play more than 20 minutes per game as well as a backup big-man upgrade over Drew Eubanks. Finally, they are looking for a young, athletic wing to fill out the roster.
Over the past seven seasons, few players on the defensive side of the football have had as much impact in the secondary as veteran cornerback Darius Slay, who has been named to a Pro Bowl six of those seven seasons and an All-Pro once while playing for the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. Despite being successful ever since joining the Eagles, it appears that he seriously considered leaving the team last NFL offseason, which would’ve been a major blow for Philadelphia, in order to join Lamar Jackson and company with the Baltimore Ravens.
As Tennessee football prepares for another campaign, they’ll be boasting a new starting quarterback at the helm. In place of Joe Milton III is sophomore Nico Iamaleava, an elite prospect from the class of 2023. Iamaleava played as a backup last season, and he’ll be taking over in the aftermath of Milton’s move to the NFL. Many are excited to see the new leader of the Vols in action, and that includes Josh Pate, host of The Late Kick podcast. “I think Nico Iamaleava is gonna be a star in this sport, and I don’t think you’ll have to wait…
the past few seasons, the Michigan football team has made it clear that they want to be one of the most physical teams in college football. The Wolverines have been successful in achieving that goal as they won a national championship last season behind a punishing rushing attack. Michigan was tougher and more physical than every team they played. Now, Jim Harbaugh is gone and Sherrone Moore is the head coach of the Wolverines. That could change things, but according to defensive lineman Kenneth Grant, the team is even more physical now. When a head coach leaves, there are bound…
Pittsburgh Steelers have been connected to several wide receivers throughout the offseason in an attempt to find a qualified and capable No. 2 boundary wideout. The likes of Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, and Courtland Sutton have all been named as potential targets for Pittsburgh. But, with the NFL Draft having come and gone without a major deal for either of the 49ers’ big-name receivers, a trade yet to happen for Metcalf after June 1st, and Sutton saying he will be reporting to mandatory minicamp for the Broncos, it appears all of the Steelers’ options are running thin.…
But more on him not signing later. And the pursuit of the great Kurri. The Edmonton Oilers first-line, first-unit power-play winger laughed heartily when asked about his Panthers on-ice days. OK, a day. You can’t count the development camps he was at. Those are in the summer. Really, the day he remembers most was the day he was drafted and got a Panthers jersey with the draft in Los Angeles 14 years ago. “I was drafted by them, so this is pretty much closed circle,” said Hyman, as he prepared for his first Stanley Cup Final against…
The Vols will still get another chance to host the four-star Class of 2025 cornerback from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, S.C., later this month when he returns to Tennessee on an official visit the weekend of June 21, just before the start of an approximately month long dead period for recruiting. But Konanbanny didn’t have to wait that long to make it back to Knoxville. A little more than a week after Onis Konanbanny named Tennessee his leader on the heels of another visit with the Vols, he came away from his latest official visit with another program…
For years now, a debate has gone on to determine which of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant is better than the other. For former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, though, nothing compares to the former Chicago Bulls star, even if the late Black Mamba has done a lot in his career. Bryant, who spent his formative years in Italy, entered the league directly from high school. Known for his scoring prowess, the late All-Star achieved tremendous success, winning five championships and the 2008 MVP Award with the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite facing injuries in later seasons, he surpassed Michael Jordan on…
