The Dallas Mavericks have followed a winding road over the last 13 years that now finds them back in the NBA Finals facing off against the Boston Celtics. The latter, the start to finish best team in the league this year. The former, the hottest team since the trade deadline. The storylines that connect players to their opponent are well-trod, and will certainly add a layer of intrigue to the series. But the finals figure to be a clashing of philosophy and styles, of playmaking and suffocating defense. As we have each round, we’ll take a look at the…
NBA is about to sign a media rights deal so large that the amount should only be read in Dr. Evil’s voice: 76 billion dollars. Roughly half that money is going to the players based on the revenue split dictated in the collective bargaining agreement, which means salaries will skyrocket. Beginning with the 2025-26 season, the expectation is the salary cap will increase annually by the maximum allowable 10%. By the end of the decade, the cap should exceed $200 million. Not long after that, annual salaries easily could exceed $100 million as part of $600 million contracts.…
Chennedy Carter made the headlines for the right reasons on Tuesday night after her impressive performance from the bench for the Chicago Sky against the New York Liberty in the WNBA. However, the 25-year-old’s strong showing was not enough to prevent the Sky from succumbing to defeat against the New York Liberty. Elsewhere, there were wins for the Connecticut Suns and the Seattle Storm. Chennedy Carter answered her critics by starring from the bench for the Chicago Sky against the New York Liberty, after an incident with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark at the weekend. Carter was heavily criticised after…
Few ambitions are less known than the Los Angeles Lakers desire to add a third star this summer, with Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young atop the list of potential candidates. The three-time All-Star and his backcourt teammate Dejounte Murray are expected to be broken up after two seasons together. But if it’s Young that’s moved, Andy Bailey listed Los Angeles as his best possible landing spot in a column for Bleacher Report And that the Lakers might be better off acquiring the Hawks star as opposed to trading for Donovan Mitchell. “Young might be an even better fit for…
Tennessee sophomore left fielder Dylan Dreiling was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament’s Knoxville Regional, which the top-ranked Vols won Sunday night with a 12-3 win over Southern Miss at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Six of the 11 spots on the team went to Tennessee players, but Dreiling won the Most Outstanding Player award after a consistently stout weekend at the plate. The draft-eligible sophomore (and likely early-round pick in this summer’s draft) was big at the plate in the Vols’ wins over Northern Kentucky, Indiana and Southern Miss. Dreiling was 7-of-13 (.538) in the Knoxville Regional, collecting…
An autographed Michael Jordan Logoman card sold for $2.928 million on marketplace Goldin. The card, which is the most ever paid for a Jordan card, is numbered 1-of-1 and came from the 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection. Logoman cards are usually limited to just one copy and feature an NBA logo patch from a game-used jersey. Goldin indicated that it is the first Jordan Logoman card to feature a Chicago Bullsjersey. The card was graded “authentic” by PSA and contains a perfect 10 autograph.
considering the Ravens saw Jadeveon Clowney walk this free agency to sign with the Carolina Panthers. Campbell isn’t what he was a couple of years into his prime but he provides a boost for Clowney’s replacement. The Miami product did play for the Ravens between 2020-2022 so it makes sense why sources believe this could be a fit. However, Mike Macdonald isn’t the defensive coordinator for the Ravens anymore since Zach Orr is taking over those duties. The Ravens would know what type of playing they’re getting out of Campbell. He may not be the same but he could…
LAKE FOREST, Ill., — With OTA’s officially in the books and mandatory minicamp the next step on the NFL’s offseason calendar, the Chicago Bears have started to piece together a plan for what training camp during July and August could hold. In the third year of the Ryan Poles-Matt Eberflus era, the franchise will have a number of key roster decisions to make. The worst-kept secret about the 2024 offseason is that Chicago’s roster moves were largely predicated on building a team that would allow No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams to succeed. With Williams now on the roster,…
JJ Redick recently revealed his ballot for the 2023-24 NBA awards. One player who was missing from the All-Defensive Teams: Lakers star Anthony Davis. While the search for a head coach is reportedly still ongoing, many believe it to be a foregone conclusion that JJ Redick will ultimately become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s an extraordinary gamble on the Lakers’ behalf, as Redick has yet to coach at the professional or collegiate levels. There are some in Los Angeles who see Redick as a Pat Riley-level coaching prospect, however, and the early signs are…
The season is still young, a lot can change, blah, blah, blah. But as this moment, Rafael Devers appears to be on his way to the best year of his career. What’s been the catalyst to his resurgence? The Red Sox think it’s all about plate discipline. The 12.2% walk rate Devers is currently carrying is easily the best mark of his career. (Julian McWilliams, Boston Globe) Devers isn’t the only Red Sox player having a career season, Jamie Westbrook is, too! In his case, though, the career-year thing is kind of happening by default, as he only just…
