Steelers host girls flag championships May 19, 2024 at 07:08 PM The Steelers season is still months away, but football was in the spotlight in Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Steelers Girls Flag Football season came to an exciting finish with its Girls Flag Football Championships held at Carnegie Mellon University. In all, 15 teams competed in the day-long event, making for a successful completion of a third season of the girls flag football league. The league crowned its 2024 champions, as Moon Area defeated North Allegheny in the finals, 32-6. “Today was a great day,” said Moon Area Head Coach…
After the Suns were swept out of the playoffs by the younger, more athletic Timberwolves, many of the offseason questions in Phoneix focused around their big three — would the Suns keep Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal together, or did that group need to be broken up in the name of adding needed depth and defense around the remaining stars? Suns GM James Jones left no doubt the team is keeping its big three together, speaking on the “The Burns and Gambo Show” on Arizona Sports radio on Friday. This echoes what the Suns have said all along. Jones doesn’t…
The 2023 season did not go as planned for the New York Jets. Specifically, the offense was far more offensive to the eyes than was expected for the 2023 New York Jets. The cause of that letdown is quite obvious: quarterback Aaron Rodgers (who was supposed to be the focal point of the offense) suffered an injury on the first drive of the season and missed the remainder of the season. That isn’t creating an excuse so much as it is acknowledging the reality that very few would be able to overcome losing a player of Rodgers’ importance. But, hey,…
Tyrese Haliburton is very well-versed in the lore of his franchise. The Indiana Pacers star guard delivered an excellent performance on Sunday the lights were brightest. In Game 7 against the New York Knicks, Haliburton answered the call with 26 points (including six made treys) as the Pacers stunned the Knicks at Madison Square Garden to win in a 130-109 blowout. He even talked trash to the Knicks faithful during his scoring outburst in the first half. After his team’s victory, Haliburton continued the barbs by showing up to his postgame news conference in some very fitting attire. He wore a hoodie…
The full 2024 NFL schedule has been released and is full of exciting matchups. These are the most compelling matchups for each of the 18 weeks of the regular season. The NFL season opener is a rematch of the classic AFC Championship. The Ravens have revenge on their minds after a disappointing loss, and the Chiefs will look to feature new wideouts Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthywith superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Bengals vs. Chiefs was one of the NFL’s biggest rivalries before last season, but Joe Burrow’s wrist injury put the anticipation on hiatus for one year.…
Caitlin Clark is frustrated with herself and her Indiana Fever teammates. The start of her WNBA career has been a struggle for everybody involved with the organization. Indiana set a record by losing its first two games of the season by 57 combined points. The Fever followed it up with another loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday, by 11. It was actually Clark’s best game of the year behind 22 points, six rebounds and eight assists. However, she would have had a double-double if her teammates could handle her slick dishes. Instead, they stuck their superstar point guard…
Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, there were a lot of talented wide receivers available, with this draft class being arguably the deepest at the position in league history, starting with Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze. After shockingly trading superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans recently, the Buffalo Bills had a big void to fill at the wide receiver position, especially after letting Gabe Davis walk in NFL free agency, who ultimately signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Once the Bills were finally on the clock to start the second round of the draft, the…
With the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to start looking forward to the 2024 season. And we’re turning the corner by preparing for one of the biggest events of the offseason: the schedule release. The Washington Commanders’ 2024 schedule will be announced with the rest of the NFL on Wednesday, May 15, at 8 p.m. ET. The Commanders will play all four teams from the NFC South and the AFC North next season, including home matchups against the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Commanders will play the Baltimore Ravens for just the eighth time in…
The Pittsburgh Steelers made numerous changes to their wide receiver room in 2024. From the drastic trade of Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers to cutting Allen Robinson II, the team’s wide receiver room looks different, and at this point, not for the better. Roman Wilson, a third-round rookie, is slotted as the team’s second wide receiver, and the backups include Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins, and Calvin Austin III, among many others. But George Pickens enters a massive year for him. The third-year pro broke out last year as a significant piece of Pittsburgh’s offense. With poor quarterback play, he…
The Los Angeles Rams had a big bounce-back year in 2024, returning to the NFC playoffs and again looking like a potential contender. So far this offseason, they have already addressed some big needs in their secondary and had a first-round pick for the first time since the 2016 class. There are still a few moves to be made that could improve them. Let’s talk about three of them. 1. Sign safety Justin Simmons The Rams’ secondary was one of the team’s biggest weaknesses in 2023 and was a big Achilles heel when it came to being a serious contender…
