Heading into Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, I urged the L.A. Rams to trade up and take South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler as Matthew Stafford’s successor. My suggestion must’ve gotten lost in the mail as the Saints took Rattler in the fifth round. New Orleans took the Gamecocks star with the No. 150 pick, just four picks before LA selected Washington State DE Brennan Jackson. Rattler was there for the taking and realistically, the Rams might not have needed to trade up for him given his lengthy availability on the board. I’d argue that LA could come to regret their decision in the long run.…
The Buffalo Bills have signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dee Delaney to a one-year deal. As a result of Delaney’s signing Thursday morning, wide receiver Quintez Cephus — who signed with the Bills one day after the draft — was subsequently released. The 29-year-old undrafted free agent out of The Citadel has spent five seasons with three teams — the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders and most recently, the Buccaneers. Delaney appeared in just three total games and generated nothing on the stat sheet in two seasons with Jacksonville and Washington in 2018 and 2019, respectively. But Delaney did display…
After recently surfacing in the form of a “Bike Air” collaboration with BMX pro Nigel Sylvester, the retooled Air Jordan 4 RM is confirmed to be releasing in more colorways this year. The action sports-ready Air Jordan 4 Restomod (“RM” for short) sees Michael Jordan’s original 1989 sneaker take on a completely new build. The ankle cut is noticeably lower, and the supportive shoelace “wings” extend to a cage that wraps across most of the upper. In fact, the midsole and the angular toe tip are the only elements that remain the same, yet there’s still enough of the original…
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler’s agent, Bernard Lee, penned a confident message regarding his client on X after a fan commented on how well the veteran played in the NBA bubble several years ago. In his first season in Miami, Butler put the team on his back and led the Heat to an appearance in the 2020 NBA Finals. The now 34-year-old did a bit of everything on both ends of the floor for Miami during its deep playoff run, as he averaged 22.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.7 blocks per contest while shooting 48.8 percent…
Josh Heupel is developing his third quarterback in four years as Tennessee football prepares to bounce back to SEC contention after a less-than-impressive 2023 season. The Vols have won 27 games in Heupel’s three years and will look to compete in a newly expanded SEC with a redshirt freshman at quarterback. Nico Iamaleava is up for the challenge. He came to Knoxville as the No. 2 player in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 1 player out of California, according to 247 Sports. As a result, he has been one of, if not the most anticipated player on Rocky Top in my…
The biggest news in the NFL this past week may have been the unveiling of the 2024 season schedule, but that was hardly the only news to come out. The offseason is always a fun time for everyone, and teams are still trying to finalize their personnel for the start of the season. We have seen rookie camps start up and training camp will be here sooner than many realize. One of the bigger stories from the NFL this week was that quarterback Jared Goff signed a massive extension to remain with the Detroit Lions. He agreed to a reported…
Apr 4, 2023; Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (6) reacts to being called for a foul against the Utah Jazz in the last minute of the fourth quarter at Vivint Arena. Mandatory Credit: Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports There has been an assumption in some circles that teams might pursue Bronny James in an effort to tempt his father LeBron into leaving the Los Angeles Lakers to join them. That gambit might not be successful, at least according to one new report. In an appearance on the “Up & Adams” show Friday, Shams Charania of…
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Razorbacks are the SEC Western Division champions. For the fifth time in six seasons and ninth time in program history, No. 3 Arkansas (43-11, 20-9 SEC) clinched the SEC West title after defeating No. 5 Texas A&M (43-11, 18-11 SEC), 6-3, Friday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The Hogs have now won the SEC Western Division eight times – 2004, 2007, 2011, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 – under head coach Dave Van Horn. With Friday night’s win, Arkansas also clinched its fifth 20-win SEC season in school history. Hudson White and…
Valid critique or not, the truth is that in recent seasons, the Yankees have quite often gone to the market searching for improvements and on far too many occasions, the results were almost the worst possible outcomes. They might have been solid players at the time they came to the Bronx, but the likes of Joey Gallo and Josh Donaldson fell off a cliff. Gallo, who was still rather young after the Yankees traded for him, has bounced around multiple teams since then, unable to regain the form he featured with the Rangers. Donaldson showed his age in a…
In an MLB transaction devoid of smoke before a fire erupted, Chris Sale (and a suitcase filled with cash) was suddenly traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Atlanta Braves for soon-to-be 23-year-old infielder Vaughn Grissom. Sale was set to earn $27.5 million in 2024, and Boston picked up nearly 62% of that tab shipping $17 million in the deal. The 35-year-old hurler joined an Atlanta starting staff that already had the likes of Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, and Max Fried. The virtuoso-like move by Braves President of Baseball Operations & General Manager Alex Anthopoulos proved even more valuable…
